Attendance Matters
Is your child well enough to attend school?
We know it can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell.
Being in school improves health, wellbeing and friendships. The greatest benefits come from children attending school regularly.
It is okay to send your child to school with mild cold symptoms: a minor cough, runny nose or sore throat. Children should not be sent to school if they have a temperature of 38°C or above.
What does the research say about poor attendance and pupil achievement?
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone us on the first day of absence by 8.45am. Let us know that your child won't be in and give the reason.

NHS guidance says:
Coughs and colds
It's fine to send your child to school with a minor cough or common cold. But if they have a fever, keep them off school until the fever goes. Encourage your child to throw away any used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
High temperature
If your child has a high temperature, keep them off school until it goes away.
